Ang Bagong Pinoy (ABP) started as an online community on April 9, 2005 as a result of its founder, Boogie Boydon's personal reflections on the seemingly apathetic mentality of Filipino students towards their country as they planned their future away from their homeland and the general feeling of hopelessness and despair creeping into our midst.
This feeling of despair was further reinforced by the realization that it is already a generation since the fateful revolution of EDSA I and yet we seem to have the same dismal situation, if not even worse, that we had 20 years ago
Parallel to his own journey of personal reflection, Boogie started Ang Bagong Pinoy with the basic principle that for the concept of change to be realized most effectively it must be initiated individually before any collective interaction can happen as a major force for progress. Thus, the mission of ABP is to build a better Philippines, one Filipino at a time.
The response has been overwhelming among a mixed constituency of young and old people alike coming from different parts of our country as well as from all parts of the world like Japan, Hawaii, Brunei, the US of A, UK, Qatar, Australia, Guam, Saipan, Canada, etc., and from all walks of like like bank executives, businessmen, lawyers, gvernment officials and employees, members of NGOs, media practitioners, educators and students alike, who articulated their minds in a forum which has now grown to close to 2,000 active members with discussions averaging 30 messages per day.
A most inspiring reference for Ang Bagong Pinoy is a book entitled "12 Little Things Every Filipino Can Do to Help Our Country" written by Atty. Alex Lacson. In that book, he enumerates 12 simple, basic things that each Filipino, starting with himself, can do to improve our country, the Bagong Pinoy way.
Ang Bagong Pinoy is definitely one of the hottest, fastest-growing Filipino online community nowadays. Find out for yourself why... Join us!!!
